AvantUrb RADAR: S01E01 from Primus Luta on Vimeo.
While I find the time to finish writing up some new bits and put together the new Rhythm Incursions radio show, here’s a few things that have cropped up worth a minute or two of your time.
First up is the above video from Avanturb, which was twitted to me by @primusluta. Much to my surprise it includes my recent post/thoughts about seeing Prefuse 73 live in a classical setting in December last year. I’ll leave an explanation of the video to Primusluta:
AvantUrb RADAR is a vlog based on RADAR, an alpha stage desktop application built by GtP Studios for AvantUrb but with plans for a future public release. We were looking for a way to aggregate the various sources of information on the web and then visualize them in an interactive way for a vlog. RADAR pools these sources and organizes them by tag, displaying them on a radar display as various nodes. The closer a node to the center of the radar, the greater influence that tag has had. Users can click on the tag to open up the list of links and then follow those links to the original sources.
The result looks pretty interesting and shows plenty of promise for the application. It’s definitely something to keep an eye on if you like to consume your web content via an array of feeds and other aggregators. The visual interface and representation as a video blog is also pretty interesting. Thanks to Primusluta for the inclusion, there’s more coming on the same subject actually, hopefully at the weekend when I get some time.
Elsewhere, Rhythm Incursions is starting the new year with a string of guest mixes. Already online are two new mixes from Zedvant and personal favourite of mine DJ Pain, and we’ve got another going live this weekend as well as DDay One’s January show and something from both Trick and I hopefully before the month ends or right at the beginning of February.
Apart from that I’ve received some really decent, and in some cases really quite good, albums that have either just been released or are incoming in the next few weeks/months. In no particular order we have: Exile ‘Radio,’ out now on Plug Research, DJ Signify ‘Of Cities,’ incoming on Bully Records, Ras G & The Afrikan Space Program ‘Ghetto Sci-Fi,’ and Kutmah ‘Warm Like The Sunshine’, both out now on Poobah Records, Mochipet ‘Bunnies and Muffins’, forthcoming on Daly City Records, Mount Kimbie’s forthcoming EP on Hotflush and some others which I’ve forgotten right now but will most likely be featured on my Rhythm Inc show later this month.
Right now it’s late and I should be sleeping. Enjoy.
