Harmonic 313 interview, Serie B R.I.P and new shows

Harmonic 313 cover

This should have really been a few separate posts but right now time isn’t on my side so I’ll bundle it all up for ease of writing and consumption.

The interview I did with Mark Pritchard aka Harmonic 313 (among many others) is now live over at Spannered. I wasn’t particularly happy with how it came out if I’m honest but it seems that people like it, so I won’t argue. It was definitely one of the nicest interviews I’ve done, Mark was more than forthcoming and he had some very interesting things to say. Shame I couldn’t just straight record it and post a transcript of the q&a. For my Spanish reading massive, it will be going live on Serie B’s brand new online incarnation very shortly. Also while you’re on Spannered, you might wanna check some reviews I did recently, including the Harmonic Lp, Ras G’s Space Program LP and more. I’ve also done a few more Musebin one live reviews recently, all linked in the sidebar to your right.

A shorter version of the interview will also be appearing in print in the next issue of Shook magazine. Massive thanks go to Beatnick for the hook up on that and to Jez for taking it in. I’ve been a fan of Shook since discovering them while in Japan so it’s nice to be able to be a part of it and add another magazine to the folio. I’ll be posting both versions of the feature once the mag is printed.

Which brings me nicely to Serie B’s unfortunate print demise. As we started working on issue 25, the news came in that due to advertising and money problems the mag would have to be pulled for good. Of all the magazines I’ve worked with over the last 6 years, Serie B was by far my favourite and the one I felt closest too, not least because they’re close friends of mine. To know that it would be no more was very sad but in the current climate and knowing the publishing industry only too well I can’t say I was surprised.

Luckily the guys decided to not let it die entirely and instead move online. A process that has been unfortunately slow but which is just about finished. The site will soon be officially launched though in the meantime you can peep the online casinonew Serie B ahead of time. As I said expect an official launch sometime soon, and I’ll be continuing to write for them (Harmonic 313 piece is next) as well as do reviews. I’m still figuring out whether or not my column will move online too.

Lastly, the Rhythm Incursions show have also been popping. If you’re a subscriber you already know the deal, and if you’re not then I only have one thing to say to you: get on it. now. In the last months we’ve had exclusive guest mixes from 2tall, Onra, Touchy Subject, Joxaren and an L.A triple bill with Dday One, Namo and Marques Lafelt. And that’s not counting the regular shows and the exclusive downloadable tracks too. So if you’re looking for some good music, what’s ticking all the boxes at the moment in my iPod and more then head over and get downloading. There’s more coming soon too, with guest mixes from Musique Large, Primusluta, Architeq and others in April.

That’s it for now, I’ll be returning to normal blogging broadcast soon.
