Being that Original Cultures is my baby, which makes me fairly biased on the subject, I will keep this brief.
Our first London show is coming up in a few weeks, and ahead of this we’re holding an exhibition at the Stolen Space gallery (http://www.stolenspace.com) in Brick Lane from February 11 to March 7, 2010. The exhibition features brand new works from Ericailcane, DEM and Will Barras, three of the visual artists we work with, as well as some unique picture discs created by Original Cultures for the occasion and featuring new music and designs from all our artists. The opening is February 11th from 6 to 9pm with free drinks, artists in attendance (not Ericailcane and DEM, they’ll be in London later in the month) and just all around niceness.
You can preview parts of the exhibition, called ‘Original Cultures – The Show’, at the following link – http://www.originalcultures.org/2010/02/original-cultures-the-show-online-preview/. This includes the audio and images of the pictures discs as well as designs and two collaborative prints created exclusively for the show.
Those of you what like audio can preview the 6 tracks below, and if you haven’t yet sign up to the O.C newsletter as we’ll be giving away one of the tracks exclusively via the newsletter this weekend.
The main event, Original Cultures London 2010, will start on Feb 27 and run until March 5, culminating in a live showcase featuring all 7 artists and a one-hour show created in the days previous. This will be, like our first event, a truly unique showcase, one-of-a-kind audio and visual combo that shouldn’t be missed. Alongside this we’ll be holding a music production workshop for young people (open to ages 15-19, and Hackney residents) and a closing party for our exhibition with live painting and other fun things. Web flyer below and full schedule coming up on the site (http://www.originalcultures.org) and Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/originalcultures) at the weekend.
And lastly we also released this video a couple of weeks ago of all our artists collaborating in Bologna and painting a pretty big wall on the last day. This footage has never been seen before. Enjoy!
